What actually happens at your first appointment

Nervous about your first visit? Here is exactly what the appointment involves, from the moment you arrive to the treatment plan you leave with.

Most people arriving for a first aesthetic consultation are a little nervous, and often slightly embarrassed to be there at all. It helps to know precisely what is going to happen.

Before you arrive

We send a medical history form by email when you book. Filling it in beforehand means we spend your appointment talking rather than form-filling. Please list every medication and supplement, including anything you would rather not mention — it is confidential, and some of them genuinely affect bruising and healing.

Come with a clean face if you can, or at least be prepared to take your makeup off. We cannot assess skin through foundation.

The consultation itself

We will start by asking what brought you in. Try to describe what bothers you rather than naming a treatment — "I look tired in photographs" tells us far more than "I want tear trough filler", and quite often leads somewhere better.

Then a proper look at your skin, in good light, usually with clinical photography for your records. We will talk through your medical history, and we will ask about previous treatments — including anything you have had elsewhere. Please be straightforward about this, particularly regarding filler. We need to know what is already in your face.

What you leave with

A written plan, costed, with the options ranked and an honest view of what each will achieve. Sometimes that plan is "nothing yet" — if you are twenty-four and asking about preventative treatment you do not need, we will say so.

If you decide to proceed, we book the treatment as a separate appointment. You are never treated on the day of your first consultation. That gap is your cooling-off period, and we would rather you used it.
